WiFi Hotspots

Using WiFi outside the home

You can have a WiFi internet access at Hotspots around Bahrain and you will need a a laptop or PDA with WLAN (WiFi 802.11b) capability. Your existing device may already have that capability built-in. If not, you can purchase a WiFi 802.11b wireless networking card for most laptops and many PDAs direct from any major electronics retailer. You will also need a WiFi pre-paid card.

WiFi Prepaid

1- WiFi prepaid scratch cards

You have the option of choosing between three denominations of prepaid scratch cards to suit your WiFi needs. These cards are available at all hotspot locations in the following denominations:

2- Perpaid WiFi charged on Mobile postpaid/GSM bill.

This payment option allows customer to charge their WiFi usage to their existing Batelco postpaid mobile account. Below are instructions for registration:

At the WiFi-login page, any Mobile postpaid customer can register for an online WiFi prepaid account, whereby you can select the username & password of your choice, choose the denomination (BD1, BD3 or BD5) and type your mobile number with 973 as a prefix to the number.
You will then get an SMS with verification code that you will have to enter in the webpage presented and click the Accept button to confirm authenticity.
Save both the receipt presented and also the Account Information (that has the User ID and Password) displayed on the page.
You can then proceed and use the User ID and Password to access WiFi.

WiFi Postpaid (300)

Postpaid WiFi charged on existing Inet or Broadband bill.

You can now simply use your existing User ID and Password of their Inet/Broadband account at hotspots and use the service. You will be charged for the usage on your Inet bill at 17 fils per minute.
Inet/Broadband customers can also subscribe to the Value (WiFi 300 package where they pay BD3 monthly and get 300 minutes. For additional minutes about the threshold there will be a charged of 10fils/minute.
